Hardys was established in 1853 by Thomas Hardy, a young immigrant from England. Australia's second largest wine company, Hardys is situated in the picturesque McLaren Vale wine region, close to South Australia's capital, Adelaide.
Premium fruit is sourced from over 5,000 acres of vineyards situated throughout Australia's premier wine regions, including McLaren Vale, Padthaway, Coonawarra, Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Yarra Valley, Margaret River and the Riverland.
In 1857, Hardy created his first slice of history by shipping wine to England. This is commonly recognized as being Australia's first wine export.
Under the Chief Winemaker, Peter Dawson, Hardys is on an upward spiral of quality and success. A definitive style has emerged resulting in recognition by leading wine writers, the trade and consumers.
Access to a broad spectrum of Australia's viticultural regions and to a wide array of varieties provides the wine making team at Hardys with the flexibility to consistently produce approachable, easy drinking wines. The Hardy's VR range displays depth of flavor and true varietal characteristics.
The range comprises a Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The VR Shiraz won a gold medal at the 2003 Perth Wine Show and the 2004 Royal Melbourne Wine Show, proving that it is possible to enjoy award-winning wines without spending a fortune!
