In 1856, Louis Alexandre Pommery joined the Champagne house Dubois-Gosset. Although only involved with the firm for two years before he died, his investment was such that his widow, Jeanne Alexandrine Louis Pommery, subsequently took control and renamed the company.
The widow Pommery then commissioned construction of over 10 miles of tunnels in which to age and store her Champagnes.
The non-vintage Pommery Brut Royal, one of the most popular Champagnes in the world, is a blend of the three classic Champagne grapes, being 35% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier. Over 40 different wines go into this marque, aged in the magnificent cellars for a minimum of three years.
The flagship Pommery Champagne is Cuvée Louise, a truly excellent Champagne for the most discerning drinkers. It is a blend of 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir.
Only made in exceptional vintages, the wines that are blended into Cuvee Louise age for a minimum of seven years before being released for sale.
