In 1966 at age 53, Robert Mondavi established the first major winery built in Napa Valley since the repeal of Prohibition in 1933.

At Robert Mondavi Winery, in the late 1960s, Robert pioneered many winemaking techniques in California, including cold fermentation, stainless steel tanks and the use of French oak barrels.

A sales and marketing leader, he was responsible for popularizing dry-fermented oak-aged Sauvignon Blanc as Fumé Blanc - a move now acknowledged as the catalyst for the recognition of this grape variety in America. Robert also initiated blind tastings in the Napa Valley, allowing consumers and the trade to evaluate wine quality.

In the 1970s, Robert Mondavi Winery was among the first to export premium California wine.

Amongst many awards, perhaps his finest accolade came in 2003 when he was declared "Winemaker of the Century" by the Confrerie de la Chaine de Rotisseurs.

In 1979, Robert Mondavi purchased the Cherokee Wine Association, a former wine cooperative established just after the repeal of Prohibition. He renamed it for the town of Woodbridge, since when it has become the Mondavi family's vehicle for marketing wines from the Lodi region of California.

The Robert Mondavi Napa Selection range is the cream of the Mondavi crop crafted from parcels of fruit selected from the finest vineyards in Napa. In the Philippines, FTI distributes the Napa Range Chardonnay, Napa Moscato d'Oro and Stag's Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon.
